I present to you, the factory shifter housing bracket that bolts said housing to the chassis. Yes, those are FACTORY zip ties.

Kinja'd!!!

Here’s what it looks like on a car. I’ll try to grab a picture of the one I got removed from my actual car later.

Now, here’s what a proper shifter bracket should look like:

At least now the housing won’t twist with the engine and transmission when I’m drag racing. So no more being locked out of 3rd!!

I miss third a lot in my 5.0. Does the new bracket have any effect in tramsmission long term reliability?

Dont forget the Chinese trans behind it.

None. The shifter assembly is a remote link with a swing-arm connecting the shifter to the transmission. It won’t have any impact whatsoever on transmission reliability. You will however notice a lot more engine/tranny nvh transmitted to the chassis compared to the stock bracket. I’m supposed to hit the track tonight for a couple of runs. I’ll tell you if I miss my 3rd still or not!

From my scouring of the forums over the years, it seems like the issue was blown way out of proportion. I haven’t seen anyone complain about a busted tranny in over 3 years and people really abuse these cars. They are however a bit noisy. But they seem to hold up reliably up until 600-700hp. Beyond which you want that bulletproof automatic.

I had to swap my fuel filter in the parking lot this morning and it had brackets held on by factory zip ties. It's just outrageous
